For those of you who don't know Goldendale lake I can only describe it to you as being one of the most beautiful locations in Stoke-on-Trent. Anyone and everyone who visits this lake is bowled over by its outstanding beauty. The water is deep, over thirty feet deep, and the lake is heaving full of 'Old English Carp' - one of which is 'allegedly' a forty pounder! This is a very popular fishing lake...in fact, on summer weekends its nigh on impossible to find a place to fish from.
I'm sure most people reading this blog will have at some point in their lives visited a 'special place' - a place that just melts the heart with its beauty and feels 'great' - Goldendale is one of those places!
And now we hear of a plan (in its infancy) to fill the lake in and build upon the land! Ladies and gentlemen...what sort of a cold soul could ever entertain doing such a horrible thing?
And there is the problem with much of what is happening in the is country these days....'stupid greed' now rules the thinking of the 'moneyed' folk of Britain...all other considerations are thrown into to dust bin!
Its 'stupid greed' that dictates that the beautiful Goldendale lake should be filled in and that a bunch of poxy, low cost houses should be built there...into which a bunch of poxy foreigners will no doubt be inserted!
I put it to you, dear reader, that the lovely Goldendale lake is far more valuable to the world in its present state....more valuable than just another 'tedious' housing estate. If the person who now owns this lake wants to build houses...then build them on one of the hundreds of brownfield sites that are vacant in this 'post industrial' city....and leave this area of natural beauty to live on!
