Lets Pay Tribute To Our Crusaders!

I visited the Church of St. Laurence, Biddulph, Staffordshire, today. On the south wall of the church I found a number of tombstones that caught my eye. After a few hours of research I have discovered that the tombstones are most likely those of Knights Templar's who settled in the Biddulph area after their return from the crusades in the early twelfth century. The Lord of Biddulph at that time, Ormus le Guidon, 'the standard bearer', who was also a Knights Templar, was a magnificent warrior and excelled in leadership - taking his Knights into ferocious toe-to-toe warfare with the Saracens during the crusades. The graveyard of the magnificent St. Laurence Church at Biddulph contains the remains of several crusaders, and is possibly the final resting place of Ormus le Guidon himself!
I am of the opinion that if it were not for men of faith and ferocity like the Knights Templars, and other fighters from other organisations, that Europe would have been overrun by the Eastern hordes ten centuries ago. That crusade, to defend and to project the power of Christian Europe is for me a crusade that has been present in every century for the last one thousand years - it has taken many forms, sometimes military, sometimes economic, sometimes philosophical - but the objective has always been the same....to protect civilised Europe from the Saracens!
Tomorrow, I will be attending a Remembrance Day Ceremony in my home city of Stoke-on-Trent. Not only will I be remembering the sublime sacrifice of modern Britons in the wars of the twentieth century - I will also be remembering the (commonly misunderstood and undervalued, certainly never taught in our Red Socialist schools) sacrifice of life (but also their wisdom and example of bravery) made by the ancient men of ancient Britain. For it is a great truth that we owe those bold men of yore a great tribute...for without their efforts a thousand years ago, we (The British People) surely would not be here today!
